Military and SAR Color Guard at the interment of a recovered WW II US Airman.
As descendants of America’s very first veterans, members of the SAR have provided long-standing support to Veterans. It started originally with support to the Veterans Administration and specifically the medical centers. However, this has now expanded to a number of activities which are much broader.
Support to VA – volunteer hours, donations of personal items, donations of clothing, participation in VA events
Operation Ancestor Search – program to teach Veterans under care about their family history using Ancestry
Wreaths Across America – annual program to purchase and place wreaths on Veterans graves
Partners in Patriotism – participation in events with over 50 Veteran Support Organizations such as VFW, American Legion, Vietnam Veterans of America, Disabled American Veterans, etc.
Other Veterans dedicated Organizations – Veterans State Hospitals and Nursing homes and other organizations dedicated to Veterans
Veterans Graves and Funerals – participation or attending funerals for Veterans and placing flags on Veteran graves
Wounded Warriors – presentation of a SAR Wounded Warrior coin and certificate to Veterans injured in the line of duty
