Our Quarterly Board of Governors Meeting will be held on October 19, 2024 at The Chattanooga Masonic Center in Chattanooga, TN (551 W. 21st St., Chattanooga, TN 37408), beginning at 09:00 (Eastern).
Officers, Regional Directors, Chapter Presidents and Committee Chairmen, please note that you may use the links below to file your quarterly/BoG reports. A new feature in this is that you can begin your entries and SAVE your work to come back later to complete, if you need. All members of the Board of Governors are required to file quarterly reports (or BoG Reports) for their areas. This means all Elected Officers, Regional Directors, Chapter Presidents, and Committee Chairmen. Quarterly Reports are due by the end of day on October 18, 2024.

BoG / Quarterly Reports need to be filed online at the following links, before the end of the day on October 18, 2024. All Members of the BoG are required to file a quarterly report and we have worked to make the online filing as smooth as possible, and to include relevant information. If you are a Regional Director, the report should reflect what you are doing to work with your chapters. Committee Chairs should post the deadlines of any contest or program of their committee, as well as any awards, prizes, or budget requests. The information on the Chapter reports goes toward helping us get all of the chapters Americanism reports in this year. BoG reports should reflect (1) what activities you participated in, what programs you were a part of, what presentations you made or helped with, and any occasion that you teamed with another officer, region, chapter, committee, etc. These can be as detailed as you want them to be, or can just report that you are mystified that you have to file a report. I have had some suggestions for the need for a job description for their position because they have no idea what they are supposed to be doing.

MOTION will be made to approve presenting the Hopkinson Flag instead of the Betsy Ross Flag at State Events from now on. [Attached History of the Hopkinson Flag, HopkinsonFlag.PDF]
TNSSAR Color Guard Handbook (draft) and Insurance. There will be an update on the Color Guard Handbook and the Insurance situation. The Ad Hoc Color Guard Training and Insurance Oversight Committee did an excellent job in a short time putting together a draft handbook. David Doan, Doug Evans, Steve Gaines, Carl David Carr, Rick Longton, Paul Bobenhausen, Scott Pryor, Rob Richmond, John Neth III and Hon. Brian Frye. David Doan was elected by the committee as their Chairman at the first meeting, and Doug Evans was elected to serve as Secretary for the committee. We all need to express our thanks to these men for taking the extra time to tackle this assignment and produce a draft. We will now present the draft for review by the membership between now and the January BoG, at which time we will vote on it as our official TNSSAR Color Guard Handbook. On the matter of our Insurance, we have worked out a solution to the dilemma that hopefully will be less controversial. Our current insurer sent us an invoice for our next year's premium, increasing it by over 700% -- from less than $750/year to $5,665.10/year. However, Steve Gaines has negotiated with a new insurer for a new policy that will be less than $600 for this next year, and will increase our liability limits to $1 million.
NOTICE will be given that a group of men from Wilson County, Tennessee, have filed a request for a new Charter to be approved, establishing the Major David Wilson Chapter, TNSSAR. These men are: James Murff, Rex Bouton, George Bouton, David Howell, Gene Bland, Wayne Patton, Jack Emmerty, Isaac Bland, Bruce Taylor, Chris Vance, James Jordan, J Allen Vance, Clark Boyd, Kevin Oakley Vance, Dan Waters, Mark Fain, Michael Vance, Rick Bell, Robert Fields and Tim White. These havef joined or are in the process of joining the Stones River Chapter and learning what chapters are supposed to be doing and how to serve in the various roles of chapter leadership currently. We are granting Provisional status to them as a chapter, and unless there is due cause to deny their application, we will have an affirmation of their chapter at the January BoG in Jackson, TN. A PRESENTATION may be made regarding the devastation in our state to several historic sites and how we may assist with the recovery and rehabilitation of those sites with discussion to follow.
