The next Tennessee SAR Board of Governors meeting is coming soon, and we want to make sure everyone has the information to be there. It will be June 22, at Baker's Creek Presbyterian Church, 5501 Nine Mile Rd, Maryville 37801.
The BOG starts at 8:30 a.m., so we will start then as well. The BOG is scheduled to be finished by 10:30 so we can all get to the grave markings (5!) at 11:00 there at the church. According to Robin Green, the church ladies are providing drinks and cookies, and I assume most of us will plan to go out to lunch afterward for more fellowship time.
For the Auxiliary meeting, we will hold a formal business session which should be short. We have a couple of decisions to make. We have Auxiliary pins to sell as well as the TN earrings Maggie has ordered for us. And we need to discuss the upcoming SAR Congress as well as make plans going forward.
The highlight of our morning will be our speaker, Anna Davenport, wife of Joel Davenport, the TNSSAR president. She will have a more formal title for her talk, but she is going to tell us about the life of a patriot through the eyes of his wife. I am so looking forward to hearing her!
I want to share with you what has happened in the life of one of our board members, Maggie Evans. Her home took a direct lightning strike the last week of May which caused a fire as well as frying her electrical system including her refrigerator, computer, etc. She is fine but overwhelmed with trying to regroup. Her home sustained lots of water damage, and it is unclear if they can rebuild or will have to tear it down. I knew you would want to know and be in prayer for her.
June is a busy month, and I know several of you will be on vacation and unable to be at our June meeting. You will be missed. But I look forward to seeing all who can be present. We have had a great first year, and we hope for many more
See you Saturday, June 22, in Maryville!
Sincerely, Becky Chaffin, TNSSAR Ladies Auxiliary President
Purpose of the Ladies Auxiliary
The Purpose of the Ladies Auxiliary of the TNSSAR is to maintain a non-profit association of women interested in the patriotic, historical, and educational objectives of the TNSSAR and to support their goals and activities.
Membership is open to female supporters of TNSSAR with the completion of the membership form and payment of dues ($10/year or $100 lifetime). By joining the TNSSAR Ladies Auxiliary, that automatically puts you in the National Ladies Auxiliary.
The goals of the Auxiliary are to stimulate greater interest in and support of the Society, to assist them in the promotion of SAR membership and in furthering the objectives and patriotic activities of the SAR which are declared to be historical, patriotic, and educational.
The Auxiliary seeks to help with the quarterly BOG, the yearly state meeting, and participate in the yearly Congress and twice a year Leadership in Louisville. The Auxiliary also seek ways to raise money to help with the state youth awards.
The Auxiliary meets four times a year when the TNSSAR Board of Governors meets. The National and State Auxiliaries both have beautiful pins you may purchase and wear!
We welcome anyone desiring to join our group of women! For more information, or to receive an application, contact Rebekah Chaffin, President, LA-TNSSAR, (423) 280-0525, ladiesauxiliary@tnssar.org.
